ABOUT US
Cowboy life— independence, individuality and unfenced freedom. Continuing his family heritage in cowboying and farming, founding owner David Bradley established Cowboy Corral out of his own need to keep the spirit of the West alive. David sighs, “I was born a century too late.”
Together with his daughter/co-partner, Sheena, David founded Cowboy Corral in 2004. Defying the odds, with no other commercial space available, the duo opened just one door down from ‘the big dog’—Yucca Valley Feed, Inc. Adding to the challenge, David’s career demands as a fire captain, and the rationed funds of a new business, caused Sheena to have to run Cowboy Corral as a one-person feed store. Pushing it to the max, she did everything—from running the cash register, to loading 50-pound feed bags. And, although their confined space had no yard accommodations for storing hay, Sheena’s determination overruled—and she sold and bucked hay out of her dad’s pick-up truck in their store parking lot. Sheena’s cowgirl spirit prevailed, and with a compete-to-defeat attitude, she said: “Dad, let’s just buy-out the competition.” In 2005, the Bradley’s purchased the historic Yucca Valley Feed, Inc.
Established in 1960, Cowboy Corral’s Yucca Valley Feed is the first and oldest feed store in Yucca Valley. Originally, it was known as Don’s High Desert Western Supply under the McDowell ownership, and then purchased by the Ratliff’s in 1985, who renamed it Yucca Valley Feed & Western Supply, after which it incorporated in 1995 as Yucca Valley Feed, Inc.
Careful to preserve the heritage of its parent company, Cowboy Corral merged old traditions with new concepts. The result: A leading-edge feed store. Cowboy Corral pioneered as the High Desert’s and Coachella Valley’s first and only feed store to offer a comprehensive combination of products and services, integrating an industrious hay trucking and delivery operation, a feed and ranch supply division, and a trace of Western wear and décor. But, the popularity of their Western products grew as fast as their feed division, and they outgrew their space once again.
Being a man of vision, never haltering a good opportunity, in 2010, despite one of America’s worst economies, David unfenced another dream—the expansion of a second store, The Cowboy Corral Western Outlet. The result: A Western lifestyle store branded by uniqueness. From the moment your boots walk through the door, it hits you with an engaging experience, with “Wow” being your first words uttered. From Western fashions to Western furniture, the Cowboy Corral Western Outlet is cowboy at its best, a blend of old west, traditional and contemporary lifestyles—a cutting-edge Western store!
Like its founder, Cowboy Corral’s two stores, the Feed Store and Western Outlet, is founded on cowboy ethics, and represented in their products, services—and success. All this, and more, is why Cowboy Corral continues to be a growing leader in the feed and Western industries, determined to meet the tough requirements of its equally sophisticated patrons.
